    Justine Esta Ellis is an advisor and strategist on democracy initiatives. Previously, she worked at a government ethics nonprofit and was an American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) postdoctoral Leading Edge Fellow. Her research focuses on the intersection of religion, secularism, and public policy. Justine graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University and received a doctorate from the University of Oxford. Her new book, The Politics of Religious Literacy: Education and Emotion in a Secular Age (Brill 2022), examines the changing dynamics of religion and secularism in public life.
